Strand Theory
The idea under everything here: keep a plain record of what happened, and hold what is probably true now as a quantum state over a graph, with honest uncertainty. A house, a market, a game and a mind can all be modelled that way, and the projects on this site are the evidence.
STANDING
What it is
The claim is small enough to say in a sentence. Any system that has to act in a world it cannot fully see keeps two things: a record of what actually happened, and a belief about what is probably true now. The record is ordinary: append-only, ordered, yours. The belief is not ordinary. It carries superposition, interference and honest uncertainty, and it is written here as what it mathematically is: a density matrix over a graph of qubits, evolved by the equations quantum mechanics already provides for open systems.
Strand Theory is the name for that pair and the rules that follow from it; QAGIS is the umbrella name for everything built on it. Umwelt is the engine that holds the belief, and the record is whatever the world already writes down: a home’s event log, a ledger of trades, a game’s history of moves. The same pattern is being built in several places: a home (Penduline), a farming game (SpaceWheat), a war campaign whose map shows what the company believes rather than what is true (Verdance’s Ashes), a neighbourhood storefront (Terrarium Store), and the task desk that feeds this site (Semantica).
The theory’s job on this site is to be checkable, not admired. Every project card names which of six things it is evidence for, dwelling, cognition, coordination, cultivation, exchange or life, and what is real about it today. The model runs on ordinary computers; the state it holds is a physically preparable quantum state, which is the point: nothing here is quantum-inspired. It is quantum mechanics used as the language of belief, with the honesty rule that follows from it: a thing nobody measured reads dark, never zero.
Two papers carry it. Truth Tracking, published 30 October 2026, records the working rules: three kinds of speech, a ladder of confidence, the dark rule, and GitHub as the public record. The formal treatment, with the strands and nexuses the name comes from (threads of work, and the points where they meet), waits until the working rules have been used for a while.
