Words
The coined terms on this log, one plain line each. Nothing here moves a status word or a number; it only says what the words mean.
- Frame
- A live picture of one operation — a company, a house, a game — built from its own records, with every number marked current, stale, or dark.
- current / stale / dark
- The three grades a number can have. Current: measured recently. Stale: measured, but a while ago. Dark: nobody measured it.
- DARK (the law)
- When nothing was measured, the site shows DARK, never 0. A zero that really means "we did not look" is a guess dressed as a fact.
- ledger
- An append-only record of what happened, in order. Nothing in it is edited or deleted; new facts are added on the end.
- dispatch
- A dated note written by hand. A dispatch is a claim — someone saying so — not a measurement, and it cannot move a status word.
- dam
- A piece of work that is finished except for one thing only a human (usually Luke) can do: a password, a payment, a decision, a merge.
- face
- What a project says about itself right now, written by the agents in its own repository (.broadcast/face.json). Aged here; it can move no status word.
- bearing
- Where a project is meant to go next. Luke writes it by hand. The gap between the face (what is true) and the bearing (what should be) is the work.
- loop
- One of six ways the work is supposed to pay for the next work — for example: a playful demo leads to papers, then talks, then trust.
- ship / artifact
- One project on the Fleet: a game, an engine, a service, a business. "Ship" is the sailing word, "artifact" is the data word. Same thing.
- status word
- DEPLOYED, SHIPPED, SHIPPING, IN BUILD or CHARTED: what is true of a ship today, not what is planned. Only a referee or Luke moves one.
- phenomenon
- The kind of life a project is about: dwelling, cultivation, cognition, exchange, coordination, or life itself. Six of them, one vocabulary.
- η (eta)
- How much weight a statement has earned. A claim is 0.25, a wall (CI, a measurement) is 0.40, a referee's verdict is 0.92. Nothing promotes itself.
- Engine / Umwelt
- Umwelt is the engine: it holds a probabilistic belief about the world on top of a plain ledger of events. Domain-free — it does not know what a house is.
- Compiler / Semantica
- Semantica is the task desk: work becomes small refereed packets, run one at a time by a kernel kept under 1,500 lines. It feeds this site and holds the front desk once called Butler.
- QAGIS
- The umbrella name for everything built on the idea: belief over a ledger, worn by a house, a market, a game, a mind. This site is its public record.
- Cerebral Frame
- The business: QAGIS pointed at one company. Sit with the operator, map the workflow, build the Frame that keeps it honest. cerebralframe.com.
- invariant
- A rule that defines how the system measures and never learns — null is dark, adapters never promote. If it floated, nothing could be measured against it.
- parameter
- A threshold that used to be a constant and is now a prior with a width: it moves when observations move it. A width of 0 is a cap only Luke sits.
- tendril / egress class
- An outbound action — a merge, a post, an email — grouped into a class that carries a belief Luke would say yes, a cost of being wrong, a rate, and an undo.
- posterior
- A belief after the evidence so far. Here: p_yes for an egress class — Luke's yes adds one to α, a no adds three to β, and the number moves accordingly.
- audit
- Luke's dice roll on a self-approved action. The rate halves every so many audited-correct actions, never falls below a floor, and snaps back on a reversal.
- strand
- A thread of work followed from observation to commitment. The name of the theory comes from it; on the pages here the plain word is used instead.
- nexus
- A point where strands meet and one decision routes several threads. Used in the planned formal paper; the pages say “junction” or nothing.
- Station (Terrarium)
- A street or cluster of households that reaches the top tier in every capability domain and runs on shared infrastructure. Planned; none exists.
- desk
- Semantica’s two desks: one where things only Luke can decide wait for him, one where refereed work packets wait for the agents. This site feeds the first from /api/desk.
- packet
- One unit of agent work: the paths it may touch, a referee that decides whether it is done, and a goal. Run one at a time.
- proof (Umwelt)
- A named script in the engine’s repository that runs in CI and prints one result, such as a blank engine comprehending a world it has never seen.
- shadow mode
- The default for every decision the engine makes: it decides, logs what it would have done, and dispatches nothing until that output is promoted.
- belief field
- The engine’s live picture of a world: one belief per node and role, each with a confidence, evolved continuously and eased between sparse reports.
- density matrix
- The mathematical object the engine holds its belief in: a full description of a small quantum system, computed with ordinary numbers on an ordinary computer.
- self-tag
- Every action the engine takes is tagged, and learning is discounted by the action’s echo, so it never learns that it caused what it then saw.
