LUKE SPOONER · THE BROADCAST CONTACTING

The Chartroom

Observation, uncertain interpretation, recorded commitment, and independent verification form the working research vocabulary.

These papers explore a shared formalism across different domains. Classical simulation of coherent selection is an experiment; it does not establish quantum advantage or AGI.

Strand Theory

STANDING

The idea under everything here: keep a plain record of what happened, and hold what is probably true now as a quantum state over a graph, with honest uncertainty. A house, a market, a game and a mind can all be modelled that way, and the projects on this site are the evidence.

Strand Theory I: Truth Tracking

PUBLISHED

Strand Theory as the grammar of not lying about what is known — append-only events, three kinds of speech, a trust weight for every source, a missing number never shown as zero, and GitHub as the public reducer.

Landscape, November 2026: where this work sits in the literature, and the papers to write

DRAFTING

A map of the eleven literatures around this research, the gaps the notes could not fill, and the order in which thirteen papers should be written.

Live state-models over classical ledgers: a record-and-belief architecture whose belief is a density matrix

DRAFTING

An architecture with two parts: an append-only record of what happened, and a belief about what is probably true now, kept as a density matrix (the full quantum state, mixed states included) and rebuilt from the record by replay.

The ladder that lost: quantum filtering as a containment hierarchy over classical estimators, and a measured negative result

DRAFTING

Six estimators for a sparse signal, from a simple blend up to a quantum filter, each containing the one below, walked on real market data. The top rung never beat the simplest, and the paper says so.

Dark is not zero: a freshness calculus (current / stale / dark) with a never-promote rule

DRAFTING

A small set of rules for dashboards and feeds: a value nobody measured is shown as dark, never zero; every value carries its age; a renderer may lower a value's state but never raise it.

Decay is for uncertainty, not value: staleness priors for sparse feeds, and the dissipative-role law

DRAFTING

When a feed goes quiet, letting the belief fade toward "unknown" is a poor forecaster of the value and a good forecaster of its own error. The two jobs must be scored separately.

The empty diff: a relabeling-invariant certificate that a streaming model did not learn from you

DRAFTING

"This model did not learn from you" is usually a promise. Here it is a checkable property: a frozen model leaves an empty diff in a content-addressed log, under a hash that is the same no matter the order the model was built in.

Why a cheap belief field cannot see synergy: closure order, local observation, and the sign of O-information

DRAFTING

A belief model cheap enough to run live pays in what it cannot see: three measured limits on what a small quantum-style belief field can know about how its parts act together.

Winding, not duration: geometric phase as a process clock and decision trigger

DRAFTING

A process has a time of its own: the geometry its state path sweeps. This paper times a belief system by the angle its paths wind, not by the wall clock, and reports where that clock has and has not earned authority.

A density matrix you can farm: exact open-system simulation as a game engine, and an honesty-graded ledger

DRAFTING

A farming game in which every field is a real quantum state, with a public ledger that grades every concept the game teaches as exact, faithful or suggestive, and the test behind each grade.

Maxwell's demon with a farm: surprisal-priced measurement as a game economy

DRAFTING

In a closed quantum system the only irreversible act is to look. A farming game makes that a rule of play: a harvest pays by how surprising it was, and looking has a price.

Venues as observers: the perceptual resolution of prediction markets

DRAFTING

Two markets quoting the same event often disagree, and keep disagreeing. This paper treats each venue as an observer with its own eyesight and says what the structure of the gap is.

Adapters never promote: a data-processing inequality for trust in repositories run by one human and many agents

DRAFTING

What a repository may believe about a statement is bounded by the kind of evidence under it, and no reformatting raises the bound. Absent evidence is dark, not green. Measured over seven weeks of agents opening pull requests.

Information that keeps the lease: observed semantic information for software agents under a truth-tracking contract

DRAFTING

Of everything a coding agent knows about its repository, how much does it need in order to stay there? A measure built for living things, pointed at a software agent.

SpaceWheat: a farming game for building quantum intuition

DRAFTING

A demo write-up for a games conference: a farming game where each plot is a qubit, each biome a density matrix and each harvest a measurement, built entirely by AI coding agents directed by one physicist.
